Meanwhile in Kansas: 4-Year-Old’s Viral Driveway Flop Perfectly Captures a ‘Case of the Mondays’ (Video)

Face it: we all hate Mondays. But few of us do anything about it, other than groan and mope and guzzle too much coffee. A 4-year-old from Kansas, however, had such a serious case of the Mondays that he literally could not stand it.

His name is Landry, and he’s a pre-kindergarten student in Andover. One recent Monday morning, he was walking out of his house to catch the school bus, and…he just couldn’t take it. He stopped, flopped on his back, and laid on the driveway for a good long moment until the bus assistant came to check on him.

This was all captured on video thanks to the family’s security system. Landry’s mom later posted it on social media and it quickly went viral because who can’t relate to this?

“Please tell the bus assistant for the Prairie Creek preschool run thank you for being so patient with my 4-year-old who had a severe case of the Mondays today. I think we all feel like him on Mondays,” his mom captioned the post.

News outlets scrambled to interview the family about the hilarious incident.

“When he’s really tired, he gets a bit grumpy and then gets way overdramatic,” Landry’s parents, Jason and Missi King, told KWCH. “I saw somebody comment that growing up is learning how to do that in your head instead of in physical form. And that’s exactly right. I think we all feel like this on Monday, and I think that’s why it’s so relatable, to see the bus and be like, ‘I can’t do it today.’”

Landry explained his behavior like this: “I just had to put on my mask, so I did like this and got so tired I laid down and dropped.”

Every time from now on that we grumble-stumble our way into our Mondays, we’ll be thinking of Landry and wishing we could just opt-out for a moment like he did.
