Our Best Guesses For Who’s at These Congressional Orgies We Keep Hearing About

If you didn’t know who Madison Cawthorn was before, you do now. That’s because the freshman Republican congressman from North Carolina recently made salacious statements indicating he’s been invited to events by fellow politicians that involve orgies and cocaine.

This isn’t the first time Cawthorn, who has represented his home state’s 11th congressional district since 2021, has put his foot in his mouth. The 26-year-old Chad notoriously lied about the accident that put him in a wheelchair and how it affected his ability to perform military service, called Nancy Pelosi an alcoholic, and dubbed Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy a “thug.” And we haven’t even touched on his affinity for Hitler or the fact that this dude cleaned a gun while participating in a virtual hearing about burn pits killing U.S. veterans.

And then he started spouting his mouth off about these alleged wild parties involving sex and drugs. He was on the Warrior Poet Society podcast when host John Lovell asked how close House of Cards is to real-life on Capitol Hill.

Cawthorn responded that “the sexual perversion that goes on in Washington … being kind of a young guy in Washington, where the average age is probably 60 or 70 — [you] look at all these people, a lot of them that I’ve looked up to through my life, I’ve always paid attention to politics. … Then all of a sudden you get invited — ‘We’re going to have a sexual get-together at one of our homes, you should come.’ … What did you just ask me to come to? And then you realize they’re asking you to come to an orgy. … Some of the people leading on the movement to try and remove addiction in our country, and then you watch them do a key bump of cocaine right in front of you. And it’s like, this is wild.”

Cawthorn has since kinda-sorta walked back his comments after getting reprimanded by fellow Republicans. Still, CNN has reported that his colleagues are “at their wits’ end” with this guy.

Whether or not Cawthorn’s claims hold water remains to be seen. But in the meantime, we rounded up a handful of politicians we’re sure would be in on a drug-fueled orgy, if such a thing did occur.
