The ongoing success of “The Walking Dead” has inspired some networks to purse their own comic book adaptations. And A&E has just picked up a comic book property with a star already attached.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “The Walking Dead” executive producer. Gale Anne Hurd is teaming up with Rosario Dawson to bring “O.C.T.: Occult Crimes Taskforce” to A&E; which will be based upon the comic book series of the same name that was created by Dawson back in 2006 alongside David Atchison and Tony Shasteen.
“O.C.T.” follows Sophia Ortiz, the newest member of the Occult Crimes Taskforce; an organization that dates back to the post Civil War era and uses magic and spells to battle ghosts, the undead and all things supernatural. The crux of the comic also involves an organized group of demons attempting to take over Manhattan.
Sophia’s likeness (seen above) was directly inspired by Dawson herself; which is why it’s not surprising that Dawson may play Sophia if “O.C.T.” goes to pilot or series. Dawson has previously appeared in several genre friendly films, including Men in Black II, Sin City, Clerks II, Grindhouse: Death Proof and she provided the voice of Artemis in the Wonder Woman animated movie in 2009.
Dawson also starred in the web series, “Gemini Division;” as a New York City police detective investigating the murder of her fiancee and a conspiracy involving simulated life forms.
“O.C.T.: Occult Crimes Taskforce” is being adapted by Jorge Zamacona (“The Unusuals”), who will produce the potential series alongside Dawson and Hurd.
