Don Mattrick Bolts Microsoft for Zynga

Fresh off a compelling Xbox One presentation at E3, Don Mattrick took another job … the third time since 2007 a Microsoft executive who presented at E3 left the company in the weeks following the Expo.

Crave’s DigitalSpy reported Monday Mattrick, who was President of Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment division, will become CEO for mobile game maker Zynga. (Zynga is responsible for FarmVille and Draw Something.)

Xbox recently had to step back from a number of DRM, used games and content policies following massive negative reaction from gamers. Peter Moore, then Vice President of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Games for Windows groups, left the company to lead EA Sports following E3 2007 and John Schappert left his position as Vice President of Xbox Live Software and Services two years later.

This has us wondering if there is an E3 curse for Microsoft executives. Hmmm?
