There is nothing more irritating than playing a game and having it end sooner than anticipated. It just leaves you asking for more.
In an interview held during Gamescom, Darby McDevitt confirmed that the main campaign in Assassin’s Creed: IV Black Flag will last for at least twenty hours. Considering that he is the lead writer for the newest Assassin’s Creed installment, he had plenty more information to add towards the expansiveness of the storyline. During the interview between McDevitt and NowGamer, Darby further explained some reasoning behind the lengthy campaign by saying:
There’s a very light present day wrapper on this, It’s got a lot of extra content for those people who like the present day and will really be rewarding for people who like the present day story, but it’s not too burdensome for people who just want to do the pirate game. It’s about, I’d say, 45 minutes total content through the whole story, the main path in the game takes about 20 hours on average. It’s actually quite a bit longer than other Assassins’ Creeds have been because the naval stuff gives a very different pace to the game, a very different feeling to the way exploration works.
So with that, how can someone not be ecstatic for a fulfilling campaign? Especially one that allows the player to choose whether or not they want to spend their time raiding towns, or running around Abstergo.
