Every day throughout the month of October, William “Bibbs” Bibbiani from The B-Movies Podcast and Ryan Turek from Shock Till You Drop are reviewing a different theatrically-released horror movie based on the works of Stephen King. Day 28’s film barely qualifies, since it had a microscopic theatrical release, but Riding the Bullet still counts. It’s one of many collaborations between Stephen King and director Mick Garris (Sleepwalkers, “The Stand”), based on a short story about Alan Parker (Jonathan Jackson), a young man in the 1960s hitchhiking home to visit his sick mother (Barbara Hershey), encountering nightmarish representations of lifelong obsession with death. It all boils down to a fast-driving greaser played by David Arquette, who forces the hero to make a terrible, life-altering choice.
