SQUIB: a : a short humorous or satiric writing or speech; b : a short news item. (Merriam-Webster)
This Travel Squib jingles all the way to Wales.
It’s Christmas. It’s Christmas in Wales. There are children celebrating Christmas in Wales, just as Dylan Thomas years before he’d write one of his seminal works, “A Child’s Christmas in Wales.” When you consider that this reporter spend a couple weeks touring Wales last summer — and that 2014 will mark the Centennial of great Welsh author Thomas, it’s the perfect time to share some imagery and impressions of my couple of summer days in Swansea.
Swansea has a rough reputation that seems entirely unearned. From its cultural heart at the Dylan Thomas Center and its beautiful social centers on the marina to nearby golf courses like Pennard and luxury hotels like The Morgan, Wales’ second largest city offers a very soft-spoken atmosphere.
