This Tech Squib asks that famous question from a classic fairytale: “Oh, mirror, mirror not on the wall, but rather on my desk, torn from a BMW Mini, playing my favorite music via Bluetooth…Though, you’re not really a mirror. You’re clearly a speaker…And you never were really on any car, as a mirror or speaker…But, that said: Oh, mirror, mirror not on the wall, who wrote the longest, most drawn out intro in the history of Tech Squibs of all?”

But, it’s in a good cause for gearheads looking to pick something personal out of the bottomless sea of Bluetooth speakers. The iui Design Mirror Boombox ($149) is a rechargeable Bluetooth unit designed to look like the side sport glass of a BMW Mini Cooper. The mirrors on the original British Minis were similar, but smaller — since you can drop one of those old Minis inside the current Cooper.
The Mirror Boombox comes in three color schemes: Checkered Flag, Union Jack Color and Union Jack Gray Scale (“Black Jack”). Personally, I’d like to take a moment and point out that the UK flag should only be called the Union Jack while flying at sea. Otherwise, it’s the Union Flag. Still, that shouldn’t discourage you from considering this product.
Specs on the sound quality are…Never mind. If you’re a car guy, do you really care? It has similar sound quality to like priced units. It works. But, you’re going to buy it because it looks like a car mirror, Union Jack or not.
