This Travel Squib encourages you to have dessert with every course because it’s Vegas.
Many of the Las Vegas hotels and casinos feature at least one 24 hour restaurant. It might be a simple diner. It might be a chain joint. In many cases, it’s not a prime dining choice. It’s a restaurant of necessity — for winners to celebrate at 2 a.m. or for losers to drown their sorrows an hour or so later.
However, Las Vegas Paris Hotel along The Strip features a 24/7 restaurant that ranks not only amongst the best all-night options in the city, but also as one of the city’s most entertaining dining experiences.
When Sugar Factory originally opened, it was a novelty — a huge candy shop attached to a general restaurant with a menu all over the board. Since re-opening under new management, under the care of Executive Chef Matthew Piekarski, Sugar Factory now serves a well-planned, creative menu of appetizers, entrées, desserts and drinks sporting some sort of candy or sweet theme.
I had the opportunity first to sample a selection of Sugar Factory cocktails, including the huge Lollipop Passion Goblet, Root Beer Float and Pineapple Cosmo. Each were delicious, but they should come with a warning. All of Sugar Factory’s cocktails are big, cold and sweet — meaning they go down easy. This is a restaurant where you can run up a fancy bar bill fast while getting tore up, Willy Wonka style.
The most entertaining entrées included gourmet Chicken and Waffles and a thick burger sporting a bun dusted with white chocolate.
Of course, Sugar Factory’s reputation relies on its desserts. The restaurant does not disappoint. My favorite selections were the Coconut Cake and the Homemade ice cream sandwiches made with thick chocolate chip cookies.
Day or night, Sugar Factory is a great choice for fun food along the central Strip. When you’re done, if you still have any room left in your esophagus, you can always walk next door and stock up on penny candy rather than lose those pennies on the casino floor.
