“Archer” has become “Archer Vice” for this season. After an FBI raid, the gang has come into possession of a ton of cocaine, so they’ve trying to unload it. Each character has a different reaction to the coke though, so we sat down with Amber Nash and Lucky Yates to find out what “Archer Vice” means for Pam and Krieger. “Archer” airs Monday nights on FX.
CraveOnline: Do you have to record any fast dialogue all coked up?
Amber Nash: I haven’t yet. It doesn’t seem to affect Pam in that way.
Lucky Yates: Yeah, more ragey. She goes more bananas.
Amber Nash: More super strength.
It’s like her spinach?
Amber Nash: Yeah, totally. It’s totally her spinach. There was one little segment we recorded super fast but then they were like, “Let’s just record it regular too” and I bet that’s what they’re going to use.
How fun were those interrogation scenes in the season premiere?
Lucky Yates: Those were great. That was the one time where I’m like we’re not talking to each other, so it’s hard to find the little groove. I feel like that’s the thing, at least for me, I was most directed on because I am talking to some dude I don’t even know and I don’t know what angle. Is Krieger coming from an angle or is he just like, “I’m going to spill the beans.” It was fun, but I had to be directed more than anything.
Amber Nash: Not me, I never have to be directed.
It seemed like little solo soliloquies.
Amber Nash: Yeah, yeah, it was super fun. It did feel definitely different recording that. Just reading it, because it’s never been written that way before where it’s all these different things happening.
Lucky Yates: Also just kind of ratting each other out was weird. Normally we kind of have each other’s backs even though they’re sh**ty to one another, but this one is just totally selling Malory up the river.
When did you get to see the FBI raid fully animated?
Lucky Yates: Comic-Con was the first time we saw anything. At that point the episode wasn’t even finished yet. The montage at the end of what’s going to happen wasn’t finished. It was just animatics.
Amber Nash: I still haven’t seen it yet.
Lucky Yates: Me neither. I haven’t seen the first episode.
Did you do any recording on that raid sequence, screams or grunts?
Amber Nash: Yeah, yeah, that’s all us.
Lucky Yates: I seem to record a lot of screaming.
Amber Nash: Me too. I’m always screaming and grunting and rarring.
