Minecraft mastermind Markus “Notch” Persson doesn’t like Facebook. I mean, he REALLY doesn’t like Facebook…
Persson had been working on an agreement to bring a version of his ridiculously popular game to the VR headset Oculus Rift — but Tuesday’s announcement that OR was about to be bought by Facebook for a reported $2 billion was enough to sour Persson on the deal immediately.
As Crave gaming site Destructoid reports, Persson told fans on his Twitter feed that an Oculus rift version of Minecraft was off because “Facebook creeps me out.”
So…that’s it.
Of course, Oculus Rift’s loss could still end up being Project Morpheus‘ gain, so a VR Minecraft could still be on the way. But it just goes to show you — don’t get on the bad side of a guy who calls the shots for one of the biggest gaming phenomena of the new century.
