“Pop Up” Movie Theatres Coming To Manitoba First Nations

Ever hear of a “pop up movie theatre”? Well, they’re headed to Manitoba First Nations thanks to a new partnership between the Adam Beach Film Institute and Bandwidth Digital Releasing Inc.

Reaching a distribution deal with eOne, Adam Beach (“Flags of our Fathers”) has entered into a partnership with director/producer Jeremy Torrie and former broadcaster Jim Compton where they will transform public areas like arenas or community halls into a movie theatre, complete with food and drink concessions. “Because we are a theatre in a box, Bandwidth will have the ability to respond quickly to community bookings wherever and whenever they’re requested,” Torrie said to the Winnipeg Free Press.

Admission will be $12 for adults and $8 for children who are 12 and under. All proceeds will go to the Adam Beach Film Institute, a non-profit organization that supports underserved, at risk and vulnerable aboriginal youth.
