Rebecca Romijn Leads ‘The Librarians’ At TNT

Earlier this year, word broke that TNT was looking to revisit its TV movie franchise, The Librarian as a TV series. Now it’s official.

TNT has given a greenlight to “The Librarians,” a sequel series to the trilogy of television films starring Noah Wyle as Flynn Carsen, an academic expert turned explorer and protector of ancient artifacts of great power.

Because Wyle is already starring on TNT’s “Falling Skies,” he will only recur on “The Librarians” and serve as an executive producer on the series. The leading role will be filled by Rebecca Romijn; whose character, Eve Baird is a former counter-terrorism agent whom Flynn has recruited to protect a new generation of Librarians.

Christian Kane (“Leverage”) will co-star in the series as a highly intelligent former oil worker named Jake Stone, with John Kim as technological expert (and self-proclaimed “international man of mystery”) Ezekiel Jones and Lindy Booth as Cassandra, a young woman who experiences intense auditory and sensory hallucinations due to her incredible memory retrieval skills.

Bob Newhart and Jane Curtin will also recur in “The Librarians” in the roles that they originated in the Librarian TV films. TV veteran John Larroquette will fill the final starring role as the Librarian’s caretaker, Jenkins; with Matt Frewer as Dulaque, an immortal villain who leads the Serpent Brotherhood cult.

“The Librarians” will premiere on TNT in late 2014 with a ten episode first season.
