“The Simpsons” has been on the air longer than many of us have been alive. And with over 500 episodes produced over the past 25 years, if you lined them all up end to end, they could wrap around the Earth’s equator 3-and-a-half times.
No, that makes no sense…and yet it makes more sense than trying to watch 522 episodes of “The Simpsons” in 12 days.
But if you’re just that crazy devoted to Matt Groening’s creations — or you just have that little else going on to occupy your day-to-day schedule — you can help FXX relaunch themselves as the cable home for all things Springfield.
Not contend to let the $750 million they spend last November on the rights to “The Simpsons” reruns sit on the shelf, FXX is kicking off their Simpsons airings with a 522-episode marathon beginning Aug. 21.
According to the story on Crave site Geeks of Doom, the non-stop airings will conclude 12 days later on Labor Day. As Geeks points out, if you watched the entire marathon, you’d shatter the Guinness Book of World Records mark for continuous television viewing — by more than three times.
So stock up on the Duffs and get that couch groove just right to watch more than 500 separate couch gags…happy viewing!
