The sequel to Sinister, one of CraveOnline’s favorite horror movies of the last several years, has found its director, and despite Blumhouse producer Jason Blum’s public challenge to original director Scott Derrickson, it’s someone new to the fledgling franchise. Scott Derrickson himself broke the news via his Twitter account.
Sinister 2 news! The script, written by me & @massawyrm, will be directed by the talented Ciaran Foy. I will produce w/Jason Blum @blumhouse
— Scott Derrickson (@scottderrickson) April 17, 2014
Ciaran Foy has one feature film under his belt, the 2012 indie horror thriller The Citadel, about an agoraphobic father protecting his son from feral teens. The filmmakers have been tight-lipped about the plot for Sinister 2, but given how the last film ended, we’re pretty sure the story will have to go in a different direction the second time out.
Good luck to you, Ciaran Foy. We have high expectations, but clearly Scott Derrickson thinks you’re the man to meet them.
