The 2014 edition of the New York International Auto Show wrapped this weekend in Manhattan, closing out the auto show year in North America. There are still regional shows in major cities around the country, but nothing will approach the size and industry important of NYIAS 2014 until the automakers return to Los Angeles late this year.
After more than a week dominating the NYC auto environment, and warranting more than 20 features on these pages during its run, NYIAS 2014 was home to multiple new and updated make rollouts and debuts for ice cold concept cars that are sure to never be built — though they’ll inspire the real cars of tomorrow.
As for the annual awards coming out the show, the Germans dominated the dais. Just take a look at this list:
2014 World Car of the Year: Audi A3
2014 World Green of the Car: BMW i3
2014 World Performance Car of the Year: Porsche GT3
2014 World Luxury Car of the Year: Mercedes-Benz S Class
But, isn’t that so typical of New Yorkers? They consider everything in NYC to be the best in the world. And, if it doesn’t come from New York (like cars), it’s only good if it comes from Europe.
For a little car porn, you can check out some of the prettiest and most important vehicles of NYIAS 2014 in the gallery below:
