The conspiracy theorist were are out in full-force after the Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA Draft lottery for the third time in four years Tuesday night — crazy odds considering the Cavs only had a 1.7% chance of getting the pick.
Either the NBA really wants Lebron James to return to Cleveland this summer and the league is helping add pieces to entice the ‘King,’ or simply Cleveland is the luckiest organization on earth.
The tin foil hat gang probably would have tore down Adam Silver’s office doors if the Lakers or Celtics got the top pick. But the Cavs are the Cavs for a reason.After last year’s colossal blunder selection in Anthony Bennett, none of us will be surprised if they pick Lawrence Fishburn as their top pick.
Cleveland being given the top pick is like a dad giving his college freshman son $1,000 to pay for books only for him to waste it on X-Box games, weed, and microwavable pizzas. But maybe this selection will be easy enough that they won’t mess it up. MAYBE!
With the actual draft still a month away, let’s take a look at the few candidates that may hear their name called first on drat night.
Joel Embiid, C, Kansas
Who can forget past No. 1 picks like Michael Olowakandi or Greg Oden? Speaking of Oden, that is who most critics will mention when Embiid comes up due to Oden’s injuries derailing his career and Embiid already having back problems in college.
Many experts think the Cavs need to go big with this pick to accommodate Kyrie Irving and attract Lebron James. But the risk is too high. Look elsewhere, Cleveland.
Andrew Wiggins, F, Kansas
Wiggins is a total freak athlete who can jump out of the gym and actually has a jump shot. Could you imagine Irving and Wiggins running the floor? That could be one of the most dynamic young duos in the NBA — the next Westbrook/Durant combo. You literally could not go wrong with Wiggins here.
Jabari Parker, F, Duke
Draft Parker to give Irving the stud he needs to carry the scoring load and provide even more of a reason why Lebron should opt out of Miami and come back home to Cleveland where that trio alone, could win NBA championships.
