The rumor mill can finally close: Marvel Studios has found a director to replace Edgar Wright on the upcoming superhero movie Ant-Man. After running through frontrunners including Adam McKay (Anchorman 2), Rawson Thurber (Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story) and Randall Fleischer (Zombieland), Marvel announced today that they have officially hired director Peyton Reed, best known for his breakout 2000 cheerleading hit Bring It On. Peyton Reed was originally also on the short list to direct the previous Fantastic Four movies, before Tim Story (Barbershop) got the gig instead.

Fans hoping for Adam McKay to get the gig can take solace, however, in the fact that McKay has been tappe to rewrite the film’s screenplay, previously written by Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish (The Adventures of Tintin). McKay will have to hurry, however: despite the delay involved in replacing Edgar Wright, Ant-Man is still officially scheduled for a July 17, 2015 release date.
