Actress Teresa Palmer is the latest Australian to join the reboot of ’90s surfing action flick Point Break.
Palmer will play the female lead alongside Edgar Ramirez in Patrick Swayze’s role of Bohdi while fellow Aussie Luke Bracey will reprise Keanu Reeves’ Johnny Utah character as an FBI agent infiltrating a gang of criminals, this time in the world of extreme sports.
Scheduled for an August 2015 release, both Palmer and Bracey have been making waves in Hollywood after beginning their careers on home soil.
Palmer enjoyed a leading role in 2013’s zombie romance Warm Bodies and is preparing for the upcoming release of Terrence Malick’s Knight Of Cups with Christian Bale, Natalie Portman and Cate Blanchett, as well as Kill Me Three Times with Simon Pegg and Luke Hemsworth.
Bracey most recently replaced Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Cobra Commander (voiced by Robert Baker) in the $375,740,705 box office hit G.I. Joe: Retaliation alongside an all-star cast featuring Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis and Channing Tatum.
“We’re paying our respects and updating it to now. We’re taking the intensity and conceptualizing it to the 2015 world,” Bracey said of the Point Break reboot in a recent interview with USA Today.
