Within the pages of Brian Michael Bendis’ All-New X-Men, it was recently revealed that the Xavier from the Future Brotherhood is the son of Charles Xavier… and Mystique.
It should be pointed out that this twist is wildly out of character for both Charles Xavier and Mystique. The two biggest reasons are Mystique’s resentment towards Xavier after her foster-daughter, Rogue joined the X-Men and the fact that Mystique killed Moira MacTaggert, the love of Xavier’s life.
However, answers may be coming in Bendis’ upcoming Uncanny X-Men # 23, which kicks off the “Last Will and Testament of Charles Xavier” storyline that will reunite the feuding teams of X-Men as they get some surprising news about Xavier’s legacy.
Marvel has released two double-page spreads from Uncanny X-Men # 23 by artist Kris Anka that feature Dazzler demonstrating her short fuse after being Mystique’s prisoner and Cyclops reflecting on the last moments of Charles Xavier’s life… before he killed his mentor while possessed by the Phoenix.
Uncanny X-Men # 23 will hit comic shops on Wednesday, July 16.
