Currently, the PlayStation 4 leads the Xbox One in worldwide sales, approximately eight million to four and a half million, respectively. Shipped (including systems likely not sold to customers yet) brings the numbers to approximately nine million and five million, respectively.

In an interview with Edge (#296), Microsoft CVP Phil Harrison said, since E3 2014 the Xbox One offers a complete package and that they hope to decrease the rather large lead the PlayStation 4 has in sales.

He went on to say that they are demonstrating the Xbox’s position as “the only place where you’ll be able to play that number of games to that quality, those exclusives, those blockbusters, that breadth of support from the ID@Xbox programme, at the right price, supported by a great online services and continuous improvements”.

Whether that statement holds true, we shall see. Until now, the public has voiced their opinion on Microsoft’s current-gen video game console’s value versus the competitors. Here’s hoping they can shrink that lead!
