With part one of the final film in The Hunger Games franchise now only months away, Lionsgate are getting in on the hype game, releasing teaser trailers for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 in the form of fake viral ads broadcasting direct from “Capitol TV”.
In the latest iteration we see President Snow, played by the incomparable Donald Sutherland, as he delivers a Panem address calling for unity in an entirely white room while flanked by his Peacekeepers. Rebels hiding out in District 13 then begin disrupting the message with their own pirate signal.
It follows the first Mockingjay – Part 1 teaser trailer which was released last month. That clip resembled creepy political propaganda and was also delivered by President Snow. “Panem today, Panem tomorrow, Panem forever,” is the slogan, and in keeping with the times, the video also features its very own hashtag, #OnePanem.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is due out in US theatres on November 21 this year. Josh Hutcherson, Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson and Elizabeth Banks, will also feature in the forthcoming sequel, as will the late Philip Seymour Hoffman.
