If you’re current with your comic news, then you know that Marvel is killing off Wolverine in September with the Death of Wolverine weekly miniseries.
Over at his weekly Axel-In-Charge CBR column, Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso said that the Death of Wolverine “is a long-term plan. He’s dead. Our plans, well, let’s just say that if they fans don’t like a Wolverine-free Marvel Universe, we can’t fix that quickly. Mike [Marts] and his team have a very complex and exciting plan to fill the Wolverine-sized hole in the Marvel Universe… that better work out! [Laughs]… At this point, there’s no exit plan.”
Oh well. Guess Wolverine is just gonna stay dead forever. Yep…
Look, it is possible to enjoy superhero comics without buying into the carnie hucksterism that goes along with it. But can’t we just call a cash grab a “cash grab?” Ladies and gentlemen, I present Marvel’s latest cash grab: Death of Wolverine: The Logan Legacy, a seven issue miniseries that chronicles the reactions of Wolverine’s greatest enemies and one of his allies as they adjust to life without him.
Just because it’s a cash grab doesn’t mean it can’t be entertaining. Charles Soule is kicking off the first issue of The Logan Legacy with artist Oliver Nome. The second issue will be written by Tim Seeley with art by Ariela Kristantina, as they focus on X-23, Wolverine’s female clone who was also the closest thing he had to a daughter.

Kyle Higgins and artist Jonathan Marks take on Sabretooth in The Logan Legacy # 3, while Lady Deathstrike takes the stage in The Logan Legacy # 4 by Marguerite Bennet and Juan Doe.
Daken will apparently still be alive (and still blue) after his appearances in Uncanny Avengers, as he shows up in The Logan Legacy # 5 by Ray Fawkes and artist Elia Bonetti. Then Mystique gets the last solo issue in The Logan Legacy # 6 by James Tynion IV and artist Andy Clarke.
Soule will then return for the seventh and final issue of The Logan Legacy alongside artist Peter Nguyen. The first three issues of Death of Wolverine: The Logan Legacy will be released in October, with issues four and five hitting in November before the final two issues come out in December.
