Australia is about to get a whole lot funnier with the return of the Just For Laughs comedy festival to Sydney, complimented by solo tours from South African comic Trevor Noah and British comic, actor and musician Bill Bailey.
Just For Laughs Sydney returns with its 4th edition and first announcement of this year’s amazing line-up, featuring some of the worlds’ biggest and funniest international and Australian comedians. Starting Tuesday, October 14 the annual six-day event will return to the prestigious Sydney Opera House.
The lineup boasts famed international comics including New Zealand native Rhys Darby, known for his role as Murray in “The Flight of the Conchords”, and Grammy-nominated comedian, actor and New York Times best belling author Jim Gaffigan, who will be making his Australian debut at this year’s festival.
Foxtel’s stand up comedy series “Just For Laughs Sydney”, hosted by Australian comedian Dave Thornton, returns for a second season this year. Six live shows will be filmed from the Studio at the Sydney Opera House and will feature top international and local guests soon to be announced. While returning to Australia for the festival, South African comedian Trevor Noah will also embark on his second national tour, following his sold-out 2013 jaunt. Born a mixed-race child under Apartheid in South Africa, Noah aims to challenge the status quo through his unique comedic perspective. He’ll follow-up his festival slot with shows in Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane.
Also returning for a solo national tour is adored UK comedian, actor and musician Bill Bailey. His extensive national tour will signal the world premiere of his brand new live show, Limboland. The tour starts in Perth on 1st October and will take him right through the country including Far North Queensland and Darwin.
Finally, the always wonderful and always hilarious Rhys Darby will compliment his Just For Laughs festival spot with a quick run of headline dates in Perth, Brisbane and Sydney. This Kiwi comic superstar’s blend of sound effects, characterisations and askew observations have made him one of the most consistently acclaimed comic performers working today.
