Back in 2011 when “Powers” was at FX, Lucy Punch was signed to play Deena Pilgrim in the adaptation of the comic book series created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming. But now that “Powers” is coming to Playstation Network, the creative team is going in a new direction.
Deadline is reporting that Susan Heyward has been cast as Deena Pilgrim in “Powers,” making her the female lead opposite the currently uncast Christian Walker. First published by Image Comics in 2000, “Powers” follows Walker and Pilgrim as they investigate unusual homicide cases in a world where superpowers are common.
For the “Powers” live action series, Pilgrim is described as “equal parts beauty and sarcasm, a wunderkind detective with edgy style.” Heyward recently had a recurring role on “The Following,” in addition to her previous appearances in “666 Park Avenue,” “30 Rock” and “Michael & Michael Have Issues.”

The Deadline report also notes that Adam Godley (“Breaking Bad”) will be playing Captain Cross, a role originally portrayed by Charles S. Dutton in the FX pilot. Max Fowler (“The Killing”) has also been signed to play Krispin Stockley, the son of Walker’s murdered partner.
“Powers” is being executive produced by Charlie Huston, Bendis and Oeming, with David Slade on board to direct the first two episodes. “Powers” will premiere on Playstation Network in December.
