Comic-Con 2014: First Image of Gal Gadot As Wonder Woman

Zack Snyder, Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot dropped into Hall H. The quadrant were there to, of course, drop some tidbits on Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The biggest reveal was Gal Gadot in costume as Wonder Woman. As previously buzzed about, her costume includes cuffs to her elbows, a sword and a breastplate that looks more Roman-influenced than the red-blue-and-yellow bikini-and-cape costume that fans saw Diana Price wear in the comics. She definitely looks great (and, apparently, classic).

When Gadot was cast the Internet exploded with pounding fists about Gadot being too wimpy to play Wonder Woman, but this photo should ease many fears. Again, the Israeli actress looks fantastic. Gadot appears to have been hittin’ the stairs. And although those eyes are piercing, she’d win more than a stare off.

Snyder also showed a brief reel from what they’ve been shooting. Batman (Affleck) was shown in full armored gear, leading some to think that Snyder is taking his costume cues from Frank Miller’s graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns. And like that, they were gone. Batman v. Superman is currently filming and Snyder and crew kept it very brief. But they have work to do. And with the announcement of Chris Terio was tasked with a Justice League script, they’ve got a lot of work to come.

The Warner Brothers panel is two hours long. So although there was no on-stage announcement for Gadot getting a standalone Wonder Woman film, that could come during the panel. Many more announcements are expected. But, while, fans might not be content with a 10-minute presentation, take heed that the brevity was to get back to work.

Gadot’s full revealed costume is below. What do you think about Snyder’s Wonder Woman choice/costuming? And Gadot’s workout routine?

UPDATE: ComingSoon’s Silas Lesnick described the teaser as follows:

“Batman is standing on a Gotham rooftop in the rain. His costume isn’t what we’ve seen already. It’s big and bulky, like his armor in (Frank Miller’s) The Dark Knight Returns. His eyes light up, solid white. He’s moving a tarp, revealing the bat signal He turns it on and the camera tracks up to the sky. Superman is there, hovering in the light, and he doesn’t look happy. His eyes light up with heat vision as he glares at Batman.”
