Mark Gatiss was one of the few key players of “Sherlock” who didn’t win an Emmy this week. However, Gatiss has won an all expense paid trip back to Braavos.
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Gatiss will return to “Game of Thrones” in its upcoming fifth season to reprise his role as Tycho Nestoris of the Iron Bank of Braavos. Gatiss briefly appeared as Tycho in the fourth season of “Game of Thrones” when an impassioned plea from Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham) convinced Tycho and his fellow Iron Bankers to back Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane) against the Lannisters for control of the Seven Kingdoms.
Tycho originally appeared in A Dance With Dragons, the fifth novel of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series. His appearance in the fourth season was an invention of “Game of Thrones” showrunners, D.B. Weiss and David Benioff.

As a writer, Gatiss co-creating BBC’s “Sherlock” and he has scripted several episodes of “Doctor Who,” As an actor, Gatiss has appeared in “The League of Gentlemen,” “The Quatermass Experiment,” “Being Human,” “Psychoville,” “Jekyll,” “Being Human,” two guest appearances in “Doctor Who” and he has a recurring role as Mycroft Holmes on “Sherlock.”
“Game of Thrones” Season 5 will return to HBO in Spring 2015.
