Now that they’ve finally stopped asking Bill Murray to be in the next Ghostbusters movie, he’s suddenly very eager to help out.
Bill Murray had been dodging Ghostbusters questions for years, and allegedly even the third film itself; rumor had it that the only hold up was Murray’s involvement, but that the star of St. Vincent at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival simply had no interest.

But now that development a proper threequel has been dashed, and Bridesmaids director Paul Feig has been attached to reboot the Ghostbusters franchise with an all-female cast, Bill Murray is apparently intrigued enough to offer some helpful casting suggestions to The Toronto Star.
“I would go to that movie,“ Bill Murray says when asked about a female-led Ghostbusters, before adding, “And they’d probably have better outfits too.”
Bill Murray’s first suggestions should be familiar to fans of Paul Feig’s Bridesmaids:
“Melissa [McCarthy] would be a spectacular Ghostbuster. And Kristen Wiig is so funny — God, she’s funny!”
Murray’s second wave of suggestions skews younger, and in favor of his Zombieland co-star:
“I like this girl Linda Cardellini (Mad Men) a lot. And Emma Stone is funny. There are some funny girls out there.”
There sure are, Bill Murray. While we like Bill Murray’s dreamcast just fine, there are plenty of women who are famous or at least comfortable with comedy who could take on the Ghostbusters mantle. Why not add Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Rashida Jones, Sarah Silverman, Kathryn Hahn, Janeane Garofalo, Tina Fey, Mindy Kaling, Jane Lynch, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Kristen Bell, Megan Mullally, Aubrey Plaza, Amy Poehler, Amy Schumer, Jenny Slate and Lucy Punch into the mix as well?
Casting has yet to officially begin on Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters, but CraveOnline will let you know who they’re gonna call as soon as the news breaks.
