Hurley Australian Open Of Surfing Returns To Manly In 2015

The Hurley Australian Open of Surfing is set to return to Manly in February 2015, and over 175,000 people are expected to descend upon the free nine day, festival which also boasts a music lineup headlined by Vance Joy.

The Open, first held in 2012, will be the first qualifying series of 2015, and both homegrown champions and surfers from around the world will head to Manly beach hoping to qualify for a place on the World Tour.

The Open will feature both men’s and women’s ASP World Qualifying Series contests, plus junior events. Reigning champion Carissa Moore will defend her title while Australian favourites Sally Fitzgibbons, Tyler Wright and Kai Hing are also set to rip the Manly Beach waves next February.

Also returning will be the skating Beach Bowl, which with its 500 square metre footprint and 4 metre drop, will take dominate a section of Manly beach. The bowl will feature a Pro and Masters Division where world-class athletes, including 11 year old Keegan Palmer, will compete.

Music will be provided by Vance Joy, who will be headlining the Channel [V] stage on Saturday 14th February for a free all-ages concert right on the sand. The “Riptide” singer will be making audiences swoon with tunes from his hart topping debut album Dream Your Life Away.
