Australian captain Steve Smith has leapt to his right in second slip and taken a ripping catch during the fourth innings of the final test against India at the SCG.
Requiring a further 9 wickets for their third win of the four-test series, the Australians need to take each chance to secure victory.
Shaun Marsh put down a tough catch at short cover off the bowling of Ryan Harris in the previous over and Smith was visibly frustrated watching on in slips.
Shane Watson who bowled well in the first innings with 2/58 from 20.0 overs, bounced a tantalising ball wide outside the off stump to Rohit Sharma who dabbed at the ball to a waiting Smith.
The captain led by example, putting aside his frustrations, to grab a spectacular catch and bring his side back into the match.
The wicket brought Virat Kohli to the crease. By far the best Indian batsman of the series and eclipsed only by Smith’s own performance with the willow, the Australians would be in no doubt that his wicket must fall quickly to have any chance of victory.
