NBC’s “Heroes” came to an end in 2010 after a four season run. Zachary Quinto was one of the biggest stars to emerge from that show and it was widely expected that he would at least have a cameo in the upcoming “Heroes Reborn” miniseries. Quinto’s superpowered serial killer Sylar (who was alternately heroic at times) was popular with series creator Tim Kring and the “Heroes” writing staff, which bent over backwards to keep him on the show.
But while speaking to Buzzfeed, Quinto definitively said “No, I’m not going to go back. I talked to them about it, and Tim [Kring] reached out to me when they decided they were going to do it. We had a great conversation. It was such a meaningful experience for me. I loved that job, I loved those people… I just felt like I didn’t want to go back to it.”

Quinto added that “Tim was very, very understanding. He was very understanding and supportive. I’m thrilled that they’re doing it, I’m thrilled that Jack Coleman is going back to it. And I know they they just cast Zach Levi, which is great. I mean, it’s a great thing to be a part of. I just felt like I need to cultivate other outlets for myself.”
Despite moving on to feature film roles (including the Star Trek series), Quinto has maintained a presence on television with appearances in “American Horror Story” and the upcoming NBC miniseries, “The Slap.”
“Heroes Reborn” will likely premiere on NBC this summer.
