The 10 Best Ads of Super Bowl 2015

Super Bowl XLIX is over and the New England Patriots have narrowly defeated the Seattle Seahawks!

While the game itself will probably be remembered for its wild, WWE style ending, the commercials at this year’s Super Bowl weren’t quite as memorable. When the most talked about ad is the one that everyone hated (we’re looking at you, Nationwide!) it wasn’t a good year for the adman.

But that doesn’t mean that this year’s Super Bowl ads didn’t have a few standout performers. Although I would suggest that nostalgia was the biggest winner. The majority of the Super Bowl ads were designed to be funny or heartwarming while reminding the viewers of something that they’ve loved in the past.

Since the Super Bowl barely ended an hour ago, these are our snap judgment picks for the Best Ads of Super Bowl 2015. Share your picks in the comment section below!

Liam Neeson’s Revenge – Clash of Clans

I don’t believe for a second that Liam Neeson plays the mobile game Clash of Clans. But it’s undeniably funny to see the star of the Taken trilogy vow furious vengeance upon the gamer who defeated him in battle. When it comes to playing a badass, Neeson just has the right specialized skills to pull it off… even while making fun of himself.

The Brady Bunch – Snickers

Ever since the Betty White Super Bowl ad, Snickers’ “You’re Not You When You’re Hungry” campaign has done a better job of pushing the faded stars and sports heroes than it has with the candy itself.

That didn’t change in this year’s Brady Bunch ad with Danny Trejo as Marsha, but it was really hilarious to see how terrified the Brady parents were when “Marsha” growled about getting an “eye for an eye.” The Steve Buscemi cameo was also a nice touch.

The Human Pac-Man – Bud Light

;

Bud Light attempts to frame this year’s Human Pac-Man ad as a reality TV style story about an ordinary man who is roped into a live action video game to satisfy his request for a beer.

Sure, it’s ridiculous. But I want to live in a world where we get free drinks for playing a live action Pac-Man.

Lost Dog – Budweiser

Lost Dog should get an award for being one of the most emotionally manipulative commercials at this year’s Super Bowl. Budweiser really likes to tug at the emotional heartstrings in its quest to sell more beer.

But nobody ever said that Budweiser isn’t really good at pulling that off.

First Draft Ever – Avocados

Getting football fans to think about eating fruit while watching the Super Bowl may not be the best idea. But framing a pitch inside of an elaborate spoof of the NFL draft definitely helps.
