Last fall, David Tennant starred in Gracepoint, the Americanized version of the hit British drama, Broadchurch. And while Gracepoint failed to catch on in the U.S., the original series is going to continue.
Following its second season finale, ITV announced the renewal of Broadchurch for third season. Tennant will return as Detective Inspector Alec Hardy alongside Olivia Colman as Detective Sergeant Ellie Miller.

While the first season of Broadchurch focused on Hardy and Miller’s search for the killer of a young boy named Danny, the second season took place in the aftermath of that investigation as Danny’s killer went to trial. Charlotte Rampling, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Eve Myles and James D’Arcy joined the cast in the second season of Broadchurch.
BBC America will begin showing Broadchurch Season 2 in the United States on March 4. ITV has not yet revealed when the third season of Broadchurch will premiere or announced a production schedule.
