CTV and The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) recently announced that Jacob Hoggard, lead singer of the Juno Award-winning band Hedley, is set to host the 2015 Junos in Hamilton on Sunday, March 15th at 7pm. Pulling double-duty as host and performer, Hoggard – also nominated for three Juno Awards this year – will also perform with his band during the live broadcast.
“Jacob’s career has skyrocketed over the last decade, and it is an absolute honour for CTV to work with him again as host of the 2015 Juno Awards,” said Phil King, President of CTV Sports and Entertainment Programming, in a press release. “Jacob brings boundless energy and amazing charm and charisma, along with a loyal following of fans, to his role as host of Canada’s biggest night of music.”
“It’s been wonderful to watch Jacob grow from an energetic hellion 10 years ago into a gifted songwriter and one of Canada’s top frontmen,” said Allan Reid, President & CEO of CARAS, The Juno Awards and MusiCounts. “I can’t wait to see what he has in store for us all in Hamilton.”
“It’s an honour to host this prestigious celebration of Canadian music,” said Hoggard. “I’m excited to see some amazing performances, make a bit of a mess backstage, and help hand out some Juno Awards in the Hammer!”
Hedley will perform at the show, along with Shawn Mendes and a number of other Junos’ performers.
Also, this week, Bobby Bazini was confirmed as the final performer of the Junos. It was announced that American songwriter, lyricist, and producer Glen Ballard, best known for co-writing and producing Alanis Morissette’s multi-platinum album Jagged Little Pill, is confirmed to induct Alanis Morissette into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame during the Junos’ broadcast.
