ComiCon took over the TO this weekend, with fans turning out in droves to meet a number of the celeb special guests, including “Beverly Hills, 90210’s” Shannen Doherty, Karen Gillan from “Doctor Who,” and Christopher Judge (“Stargate SG-1”), amongst others.
Chad Coleman from the “Walking Dead,” Grant Bowler (“Defiance”), as well as cast members from “Bitten,” “Orphan Black,” “Cancelled,” “Innerspace,” and “Killjoys” were on hand signing autographs, doing photo ops, and participating in Q&As.
“It’s just a love-fest,” Judge said to the Toronto Sun. “What I love is the diversity of the sci-fi audience right now. It’s no longer taboo to be a sci-fi geek. It’s always quite touching someone is ill or injured or something and watched ‘Stargate’ to get them through it… The thing I don’t take for grated is people have to allow you into their homes and to have people who let us into their homes for all those years, it’s a touching thing to be a part of.”
More than 30,000 people turned up for ComiCon at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Up next for Toronto: Fax Expo, running Labour Day weekend September 3-6, where more than 100,000 people are expected to take in the 900 exhibits and 100 retailers.
