Ronda Rousey Tells Jimmy Fallon Mom Thought MMA Career Was ‘Stupid’

If I had a daughter tell me she wanted to get her face beat in for a living, I’d be a little weary as well. Good thing for Ronda Rousey, she was able to prove her mother wrong.

The undefeated MMA fighter went on Jimmy Fallon this week and told everyone her mother highly opposed her ambition for an MMA career when she first mentioned it years ago.

“I don’t know if I can swear, but that was her first inclination – it involved a lot of swear words,” Rousey said. “Making (the language) cleaner, she said, ‘This is the stupidest idea I’ve heard in my life, and considering the ideas you’ve had, that’s pretty bad.’”

Rousey’s mom, Dr. De Mars, was also a badass in her time, becoming the first American woman to win the World Judo Championships in 1984. I think we’re all happy she came around.

Rousey is undefeated at 11-0 (5-0 UFC), with her next bout coming August 1 at UFC 190 against Bethe Correia (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC). Correia better be ready. Rousey has 10 first-round stoppages in her 11 wins and her last three have ended in an average time of 32 seconds. Simply unstoppable.

Here’s Rousey putting Fallon in an arm bar. Anything Rousey is on fire right now. This simple video went viral over night.

In other news, Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino has signed a contract with Zuffa, LLC., which is the parent company of UFC. According to her Wikipedia page, she has a short, but successful, MMA career after capturing gold medals in jiu-jitsu. Maybe if she can meet her weight she has a shot at Rousey in the future?
