We all enjoy imbibing the $13 beers at ballparks each summer. However, those in Philly this year will have the option of diving head first into wine and spirits, no matter where they sit.
It’s common for such drinks to be served at games, but usually only in seats or suites suitable for a king. Citizens Bank Park figured they wouldn’t discriminate any longer. It’s 2015 after all!
But in a first this season, the Phillies and Aramark will sell cocktails and wine on the main concourse’s general concession areas at Citizens Bank Park. If you think that the idea of a “Phillies bar” is coming from somewhere out of left field – well, you’re correct. It will be located behind Section 142, expanding an existing beer bar.
Wine and other hard drinks won’t be allowed in the stands, so you’ll have to watch the game standing while you finish your booze. But hey, the Philly’s aren’t likely to be very good this year with Cliff Lee pitching with a bum arm and Ryan Howard’s continued decline. They need to make money some how.
