Square Enix has announced that a sequel to the critically acclaimed 2011 game Deus Ex: Human Revolution is on its way, with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided announced for release on the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
The announcement of the game comes after the developer set up a mysterious Twitch stream titled ‘#CantKillProgress,’ in which viewers were left to watch a man wander around a small, dimly lit room. Project CKP is currently still ongoing, despite Deus Ex: Mankind Divided having already been unveiled by GameInformer, so we’re not entirely sure what the final reveal is going to be. Our best guess is that it’ll reveal more information in regards to the upcoming game’s story, but if that is to be the case then it’ll be a little underwhelming. The stream itself hasn’t exactly been an emotional rollercoaster, with one commenter rather succinctly describing it as “a bad Sega CD game where someone makes a choice once every 18 hours.”

The existence of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided was revealed by GameInformer, though there is little known about the game other than it’s a direct sequel to Human Revolution and it will star the previous game’s protagonist, Adam Jensen.
Here’s a brief summary of the plot, as noted by the magazine:
“Set in 2029, two years after the events of Human Revolution, Adam Jensen returns and joins forces with an Interpol-funded task force aiming to hunt down and capture augmented terrorists in a world that now hates and fears transhumans. Jensen has a new suite of augmentations that allow him to cleverly navigate stealth, combat, and social interactions, but how Jensen chooses to solve every problem is entirely up to you.”
Despite the game featuring multiple choice decisions and branching narrative paths, it will not continue your story from where you left off in Human Revolution. Despite the previous game featuring four separate endings, according to Square Enix none of them are considered canonical.
No release date for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has been confirmed, though more information regarding the game is set to be released over the coming months.
