Turns out his character just went into a coma. Looks like Dr. Brackish Okun will rise again; maybe his experience with the alien speaking through him in the first film will have left an indelible mark upon his consciousness (a sorta “peek down the rabbit hole” shall we say), giving the humans an advantage somehow. Being the only individual who survived a one-on-one encounter behind closed doors could be very interesting, indeed.
