Watch The First Trailer For MTV’s Scream

Generally, it’s considered to be a bad idea to mine twenty year old movies for a television series designed to appeal to teenagers who weren’t even born when the original film came out. But it worked out for Teen Wolf (a thirty year old movie), so MTV is trying again with Scream.

During last night’s MTV Movie Awards, the channel formerly known as Music Television unveiled a minute long trailer for Scream, a TV adaptation of the four feature films that were directed by horror icon, Wes Craven. Although Craven is attached to the Scream TV series as an executive producer, the series is being led by showrunners Jill Blotevogel (a veteran of CBS’ slasher series, Harper’s Island) and former Arrow writer Jaime Paglia.

In this trailer, you’ll believe that a group of young sexy white people can be stalked and murdered by a copycat serial killer. But probably not the ones played by Bella Thorne, Willa Fitzgerald, Bex Taylor-Klaus. Amadeus Serafini and Carlson Young. As regular cast members, they are far more likely to survive. Put that in your rules, Poser Randy!

Scream will premiere on MTV on Tuesday, June 30.
