Sony must be pretty confident about its E3 press conference this year, as it is bringing it to movie theaters across the US and Canada.
Sony will bring the event to 75 theaters across the two regions for free, alongside an exclusive 30-minute post-show hosted by Geoff Keighley, who previously hosted GameTrailers’ E3 coverage, and a “special PlayStation surprise.”
Tickets will be made available on May 27th for viewers aged 17 and older, with 80% theater capacity reserved for ticket holders and 20% of the theater held for those on the wait list.

I previously mentioned that E3 was a breeding ground for hyperbole, but has there ever been anything more over-the-top than a press conference being broadcast in a movie theater? How would you even begin describing that you were going to go to watch this to your friends? “What are you doing this afternoon, Rob?” “Well, I’m just off to go watch a company show a few trailers for video games I may or may not buy in my local AMC.” “Sounds wild…”
Though it’s incredibly OTT, it does at least indicate that Sony must have something up its sleeve after last year’s disappointing E3. With many believing that Microsoft is going to have the more impressive showing this year, hopefully this means that Sony is going to give us something to look forward to in the PS4’s immediate future.
