Look, there’s a line between taking your job seriously and just being a bit of a creep, and Jared Leto is straddling that line pretty finely here as he gets himself prepped for his upcoming Suicide Squad role.
The 30 Seconds To Mars rocker and Oscar winner, is gearing himself up to play infamous villain The Joker in the upcoming adaptation of DC’s Suicide Squad, and, according to reports, he’s gone super method with the whole thing, sending some pretty questionable gifts to co-stars Margot Robbie and Will Smith.
“He sent [Margot Robbie] a nice love letter with a black box with a rat in it — a live rat,” Adam Beach, who plays Christopher Weiss, or Slipnot, in the movie, told E! News. “It was beautiful. Then he sent bullets to Will [Smith] with a letter.”
Let’s repeat, That’s a flipping LIVE RAT and some BULLETS. The whole cast also got a dead hog to share, and a video of Leto in character.
“Basically, what he said was, ‘Guys, I can’t be there but I want you to know I’m doing my work as hard as you guys,'” Beach said. “The video he showed is in character. It blew our minds away. Then we realised that day, this is real.”
“He encompasses this beautiful man and he shows it in, ‘Hello, how are you?’ but in an instant, he goes to psychotic behaviour where you’re in fear.”
Method AF, guys.
Suicide Squad currently has a US release date set for 5th August 2016. Also set to appear in the David Ayer-directed 2016 film will be Aussie actor Jai Courtney and UK model Cara Delevingne.
