Stone Cold Steve Austin has been revealed as the cover star of the upcoming WWE 2K16 video game, and the trailer revealing the brand new artwork is a pretty awesome nod to the wrestling company’s infamous Attitude Era.
Depicting Stone Cold digging up the Smoking Skull WWE title belt he wore during the ’90s, the trailer encourages fans to “Raise Some Hell” when the game releases on October 27th.

While I’m skeptical in regards to the game itself given the poor quality of its predecessor, hopefully Yuke’s and Visual Concepts second stab at pairing together to create a WWE game since 2K acquired the publishing from THQ will prove to be more successful.
Chris Snyder, vice president of marketing at 2K, claimed that Austin had been involved with helping develop the “creative direction” of WWE 2K16, while Austin added: “I’ve had the privilege of working with 2K to support the WWE 2K franchise, and now I’m absolutely honored to serve as the WWE 2K16 cover Superstar.”
He continued: “No disrespect to the previous and extremely deserving WWE 2K cover Superstars – Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and John Cena – but it’s about time the franchise raised some hell with yours truly on the cover. I look forward to injecting a dose of ‘Texas Rattlesnake’ into this year’s game and overall campaign.”
It is expected that Stone Cold will have his very own game mode in WWE 2K16, which will see players being able to relive the career of the Texas Rattlesnake. Last year’s game featured a largely hit ‘n’ miss rivalries mode, in which various high-profile WWE feuds could be reenacted, including Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H and CM Punk vs. John Cena.
WWE 2K16 is available for pre-order now on the PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360.
