Amazon Secures Deal with Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May For New Car Show

Car aficionados, Jeremy Clarkson Twitter followers and middle-aged dads rejoice! For former Top Gear hosts Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May have signed a contract with Amazon Prime Instant Video in order to produce an original series that will air exclusively on the streaming platform.

Little is known about the new car show, which is set to air in 2016, but Amazon are using the hashtag ‘#Drive2Prime’ in order for fans of the presenting trio to discuss it, which could possibly be an indication of its title. Clarkson confirmed the news on Twitter, writing: “I’m very excited to announce that Hammond, May and I have signed a deal with Amazon Video.”

Richard Hammond added: “I’ve got a job I’ve got a job I’ve got a job. Haircut, clean jeans and practice driving again. Forrrrwaaaaaaaard!!”

James May was slightly less enthusiastic, writing: “Good news! I’ve got a job with Amazon Video. Bad news! So have the other two.”

However, these is some news that won’t please Top Gear fans: Amazon Prime Instant Video requires an Amazon Prime membership, which is pretty costly at £79 per year and with no option to pay a monthly fee.

The new show is set to go into production shortly, and will be created in partnership with Top Gear‘s long time executive producer Andy Wilman.
