Will Carlos die in 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5?

At this point, it remains unclear if Carlos Reyes dies in 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5. Fans will have to wait until Episode 9 airs to discover his fate.

9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5 Episode 8, titled “The Quiet Ones,” saw Carlos face a major development while solving his father Gabriel’s murder case. The ending scenes showed Carlos learn some crucial information from an informant, who had been close to his father before his demise. The informant, as he died, told Carlos not to trust his partner Ranger Sam Campbell. Carlos learned that his father was distrustful and suspicious of Campbell.

Ranger Campbell then met with Carlos and inquired about what the informant told him. However, Carlos lied that he did not say anything.

According to 9-1-1: Lone Star co-showrunner Rashad Raisani, Carlos and Campbell’s storyline had the potential of being explored in a spin-off series. “This season is going to be a proof of concept,” said Raisani in a TVLine interview.

Gabriel Reyes had an uneasy professional relationship with Campbell. Gabriel, who had worked with Campbell for seven years as a Texas Ranger, was seen by the latter as a burden. However, Campbell had respect for Gabriel’s work ethic.

Carlos and Campbell also got off on the wrong foot when they started working together. Campbell believed Carlos only became a Texas Ranger because of his father. However, they ultimately put aside their differences after successfully stopping a string of armored truck robberies. The two then started becoming friends. Campbell even offered Carlos advice when he was getting nervous about his first wedding anniversary with his husband TK Strand.
