Tracker fans are curious to know why Robin Weigert, who plays Teddi Bruin, has left the show ahead of Season 2. Introduced in Season 1, Bruin was a vital part of Colter’s life, given she used to handle several back-end operations. In addition, she sought new cases, help him with research, and also used to bail him out of jail occasionally. However, her abrupt departure from the show has made fans worried.
So, here’s why Weigert is absent from Tracker Season 2.
Why did Robin Weigert’s Teddi Bruin leave Tracker after Season 1?
Neither showrunners nor Weigert has given an official reason for her exit from Tracker before Season 2.
Earlier this year, TV Line officially confirmed that Weigert’s Teddi Bruin will no longer return to Tracker Season 2 as a regular cast member. However, the outlet didn’t report any specific reason for her abrupt departure. Teddi Bruin’s wife Velma, played by Abby McEnany, is set to return. Additionally, she will be playing “a very interesting role” in the upcoming season.
Generally, a regular member departs a beloved series for several factors, which can be personal or professional. For instance, at times, there are reasons concerning scheduling issues, creative differences, internal conflicts, payment issues, and more, which could lead to a potential exit. However, in Weigert’s case, the reason is yet to be disclosed.
Tracker Season 2 premiered in October 2024 and surprised viewers with Bruin’s absence. However, soon, her absence was notably addressed by her partner, Velma. Colter calls Velma and asks for Bruin. At that time, Velma explains that her wife is out of town, helping her mother get “sorted.”
Subsequently, Colter reminds Velma that she was supposed to juggle between home and Teddi’s current place. She responds by saying that she doesn’t want to get in the way, so she stays back and helps Colter out with numerous cases.
