YouTube Introduced Live TV – To Americans Only (For Now)

YouTube is jumping onto the live TV bandwagon, much like Facebook and Instagram have, however it will only be available south of the border.

For now.

“YouTube TV is a U.S.-only app at this time,” according to a statement from an unnamed YouTube spokesperson (CBC News). “This particular proposition is unique to the U.S. TV market and any further rollout will be considered with the local market in mind.”

According to reports, there are more than 40 live television channels that will be introduced on YouTube this year, and it will be available to paying subscribers (costing roughly $35 a month). This includes national stations like ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC. The Live TV will be available on devices via the YouTube app as well as on their website.

YouTube Live will be modeled off of similar sites such as AT&T’s DirecTV Now and Sony’s PlayStation Vue service.
