Mexico’s Royal Hideaway Hotel Gets Upgrade

Mexico’s Riviera Maya has had some mixed news for tourists recently. On one hand, destinations such as Tulum are booming with European and American tourists. But recent violence in Cancun (the city has had 62 homicides so far this year, surpassing the total number of murders in the whole of 2016) and Playa Del Carmen, where 5 tourists were shot during the annual (and now canceled in Mexico) BPM electronic music festival in January may have spooked some travelers away from PDC and Cancun.

In reality, there is little to fear in any city on the Riviera Maya, especially if you stay in a resort quietly and smartly nestled inside a gated secure community. One great choice for a safe and perfect hotel on the beach near Playa Del Carmen is the Royal Hideaway Playacar.

The adults-only, boutique luxury resort is located just minutes away from busy Playa Del Carmen, tucked behind a security gate leading to Playacar. The 200 room property recently remodeled and is proving even more popular with return guests (of which the hotel has many) and new travelers alike.

So what’s new at the Royal Hideaway?

For starters, room upgrades! The suites at the hotel have been transformed with new furniture, new wallpaper, paint, carpet and a refresh of all bathrooms. The hotel carries on its old tradition of offering guests personal butlers in the villas (certified by the International Butler Academy, naturally).

The grand hotel right on the beach features multiple restaurants on site, so you never even have to leave the property, and these restaurants, too, have been given a facelift for 2017. Two of the on-site restaurants, The Deck & Bar Allegria, were updated with increased outdoor seating, as well as a total refresh of the interior decor and furniture.
