Tesla Street Racer Embarrasses His Rivals With His Electric Car

A Tesla driver has been filmed embarrassing his rivals in illegal street races, with his electric Tesla P100D putting his opponents’ combustion engines to shame (and netting him some cash in the process).

The footage, which appeared to feature the driver from the popular YouTube channel the Tesla Racing Channel, was uploaded to 1320video and has promptly attracted plenty of attention on the video-sharing site, amassing nearly 500,000 views in less than two days. The video features the Tesla P100D driver taking on a variety of other street racers, leaving each of them in the dust with his electric car.

The Tesla driver explains that his P100D is partially modified, with him removing certain components to bring its weight down by 560 lbs. However, in mostly every other aspect save for a few cosmetic changes, the car remains the same as it appears on the showroom floor. Despite his rivals’ cars having each been kitted out with various enhancements, including nitrous, to help them get off the starting line quicker, the Tesla P100D bests them each time. For context, the Tesla P1ooD can reach a speed of 62 mph in just 2.7 seconds.

In one heated exchange, a Foxbody Mustang driver argues that he believes the races are rigged in the P100D’s favor due to the side of the road the car is racing on. After agreeing to a $600 rematch, the Tesla P100D once again bests the Mustang, promptly causing the angry driver to eat his words.

The video features the Tesla P100D in its Ludicrous mode, which comes complete with a warning regarding the car’s immense speed, allowing the driver to opt out of activating it by pressing the button labelled: “No, I want my Mommy.”
