I have not eaten at a McDonald’s in years, but even I can admit that I would get pretty damn livid when I used to eat there and noticed that my fry carton was barely filled. All I wanted was the appropriate amount of fries — enough fries to fill up my arteries with grease and distract me from my misery. Well, there might be a reason why that carton of fries wasn’t filled to the top.
A Reddit thread has gone viral that accuses McDonald’s of teaching its employees to under-fill their french fry orders. A Reddit user named “ExperiMENTALbunny” had this to say.

“They taught me how to pinch the fry carton just right while putting the fries into them so that it looked full, but actually wasn’t,” the post reads. “I only had one customer call me out on it,” they continued. “He shook the fries out into his bag and poured them back into the fry carton himself and it only filled up half way, so I had to give him more fries.”
And that wasn’t the only person to accuse the fast food chain of this. Another Reddit user named “Psychoopiates” had this to say:
And because of these two folks and a bunch of other people chiming in with the same accusation, the fast food giant actually had to chime in and respond to this. Good going, internet! Here’s what McDonald’s had to say.
“We believe these claims to be fictional…there are no ‘secret tricks’” at McDonald’s….[it has] strict operational procedures in place to ensure that fry portions are not under-filled. Without a verified source, we are unable to investigate this further.”
Translation: we were just busted and we will make sure to continue to under-fill your french fry orders in a more secret way so we aren’t caught again.
McDonald’s is awful, but if someone wants a carton filled with fries give them a carton filled with fries, damn it!
